We few, we happy few ...

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; …

These lines are from the famous St. Crispin’s Day speech of Shakespeare’s historical play Henry V.

King Henry V of England motivated his troops before the Battle of Agincourt, fought this day -- St. Crispin’s Day, October 25th -- 596 years ago on a muddy field in Northern France.

Technology played a crucial role in the English victory.  Henry and his English army defeated a vastly superior French force by using the longbow to better target -- and defeat -- its enemies in 1415.

Today a different kind of technology is used by businesses the world over to better target customers, better understand business strategy, and gain control over vast amounts of data.

That technology? Business Analytics.

When SAS was founded 35 years ago, there were only a happy few software vendors talking about analytics. These days, it seems everyone is involved in analytics, or planning to be.

Yet in this era of Big Data -- multi-petabyte data warehouses, social media interactions, real-time sensor feeds, and more – organizations need powerful and proven analytics more than ever to make sense of all this data and transform it into something useful and strategic.

At SAS, we continue to innovate, to lead in business analytics. At the Premier Business Leadership Series event in Orlando this week, SAS will underscore its focus on delivering technology to solve our customers’ business challenges.

We'll talk about Business Analytics and the many ways they are used today to tackle the Big Data challenge, drive high-performance analytics, fight fraud and more.

Like Henry’s troops discovered on that soggy French battlefield nearly 600 years ago today, the right technology can make all the difference.
